Getting your licence in Queensland

Your path from L’s to P’s in 5 steps

The Queensland licensing process is set by the Department of Transport and Main Roads (TMR). Here is how it works for learner drivers — and where we help.

1. Learner licence

Pass the road rules test with TMR to get your learner licence (L’s) from age 16.

2. 100 logbook hours

Under 25? Log 100 hours over at least 12 months, including 10 at night. Each hour with an accredited trainer counts as 3 (up to 10 hours).

3. Hazard Perception Test

After holding your L’s for 6 months, pass the Hazard Perception Test (HPT) before you can book your practical test.

4. Q-SAFE practical test

Book your practical driving test with TMR. We can provide a warm-up lesson and our dual-control car on the day.

5. P1 provisional licence

Pass and move to your P1 licence — then keep building safe habits with defensive driving.

Yes. All lessons are taught in automatic, dual-control Toyota hybrids — a Toyota Aqua S Hybrid and a Toyota Yaris Cross Hybrid.

Yes. In Queensland, each hour of lessons with an accredited driver trainer can be recorded as 3 hours in your logbook, for up to 10 hours of lessons (30 logbook hours).

Yes. Our Driving Test Package includes a warm-up lesson and use of our dual-control car for your practical test. Tests are booked through Queensland Transport (TMR) and we can help you organise it.

Yes. Free pick-up and drop-off is included across Ipswich and surrounding suburbs. For other Queensland locations, message us to check availability.

Yes. We run refresher and test-preparation lessons for overseas licence holders so you can drive confidently on Queensland roads and pass your practical test.

If you are under 25, you need to record 100 hours of supervised driving over at least 12 months, including 10 hours at night. Each hour of lessons with an accredited driver trainer can be logged as 3 hours, for up to 10 hours of lessons.

Once you have held your learner licence for at least 6 months you can sit the Hazard Perception Test. You need to pass it before you can book your Q-SAFE practical driving test.
