About us
About Defensive Driving Institute — more than just a driving school.
Defensive Driving Institute (DDI) helps new and returning drivers across Queensland earn their licence with confidence — and keep themselves safe on the road for life.
Our story
Teaching you to drive — not just to pass the test.
Based in Flinders View, Ipswich, DDI was built on one simple idea: a licence is only the start. Our lessons focus on genuine road craft — hazard perception, safe following distances and calm decision-making — rather than memorising a test route.
Getting a driver licence is a huge milestone, and for most people a stressful one. We support you at exactly that moment with patient instruction, clear feedback after every lesson, and an honest answer when you ask whether you are ready to test.
What we stand for

Honest feedback
Clear notes after every lesson, and the truth about when you are test-ready.
